your daughter missed you today,
all she wanted was for you to come home so you'd take her out to play.
didnt know what to tell her, wasnt quite sure what to say,
never really quite know if you're even gonna make it through to come home to them each day.
tried to console her while her little tears were flowing,
eyes so beautiful, face just glowing.
she loves you so much, in her eyes i can see,
just how much she needs you and with you she wants to be.
little does she know what you've done to me,
caused me so much pain, caused my heart to bleed.
but damn, your lady, she has to pay for it all,
standing by the phone, waiting for her daddy to call.
you always call on your lunch, but not today,
and somehow i didnt feel like there was anything i could say.
she was so sad, i dont know why,
usually she isnt that emotional, small things dont make her cry.
she knows whats happening between you and me,
you know she's smart, the distrust in her eyes you can see.
i tell her nothings wrong and everything's fine,
but she knows it's not when you dont come home on time.
she loves you, in case you didnt remember today,
she just wants you to hold her, and chase her while you play.
do what you do to me, and that's fine,
just for your lady, promise to always come home on time.
she loves you and needs you more than you know,
and when she gets bigger, that will really show.
take her hand, love her dear,
keep her in your heart, keep her near.
she's your first born, your princess, too...
so dont make her choose between me and you.
