Gang crime: Gangs blamed for 80% of crime.

This from ABC, one million gang members nationwide and it seems like the authorities have yet to find a meaningful solution.

One striking thing is the success of Christian programs particularly those involving ex Gs but it’s a little too politically sensitive to flag wave a Christian solution to the problem while there’s so much money to be made from grants and many of these organizations have a vested interest in the continuance and growth of gangs as it provides their income. So while that’s the case we can look forward to another article in the near future telling us there are 2 million members.

Gospel Gangstaz: Why can’t the homies hear me?

One of the first Christian raps acts I heard and still sounding good.

So what do you think? Any other Christian rappers worth talking about? There’s gonna be some more tunes to follow from Christian rappers I rate but there’s a lot of guys out there dropping good tunes. Tell us about them.

The Gospel Gangstaz stand in a position to help, because we have seen how the gospel of Christ is real. Our lives were changed from selling crack, drive-by shootings, car-jacking and illicit sex, to a life of peace, joy and happiness because of Christ. We want to go back to the hood and let our light shine.

Stop Now! Gangs A Way Out.

Stop Now

I have a heart heavy with sorrow for all those that have poured out thier hearts on this site. It is too much for me to bear when i see that there is a way out. I want all the people who read this that are in pain to see that the way out is found in their own hearts.

My prayer is for each of you to see that it is time to lay downthe gun, to lay down the allegiances to all false things and see that your real allegiance is to the human race, the world around you, to love. The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. just had his day recently and I pray that all of you can see that this is the only way that things will ever get better. Nonviolence is the answer that you are looking for. Fire will never put out fire. I pray that you lay down your weapons and pick up the torch of freedom
for all. Know that you will get the kind of government you deserve if you sit back and let others decide your future. Know that you will be responsible not just for your own fate but the fates of everyone else with each decision you make. There is a way. Why die for streets you don’t own?

Why be angry for things that you can make real changes in without death and blood that means nothing in the end? Why let this go on when you have the power to make it stop? There are things in the world you have never dreamed of yet and never will if you don’t do something about it now. I pray that each of you reading this message
can hear it with empty ears, no preconceived notions. Just listen and understand. The time is now.

There are so many other causes that need your energy, so many other things you could do with your life. Each of you contains the answer, each of you can make the change.I pray that each of you will hear this and each of you will do what you are responsible for, which is to make the difference now.

It’s Over: Real Gang Banging is Dead and Gone

I AM FROM THE OLD SCHOOL. I STARTED “CRIPPIN’” WHEN I WAS A 7TH GRADER AT HENRY CLAY JR. HIGH SCHOOL IN SOUTH LOS ANGELES. THAT WAS IN 1978-79. I WAS HANGIN’ ROUND G’S SINCE I WAS YOUNGER THAN THAT. SO I AM REALLY FROM THE OLD SCHOOL.

I REMEMBER WHEN IT WAS NO C’S & B’S , JUST SETS THAT STOOD ALONE. THE CHAIN GANG , THE SLAUSONS , COMPTON PIRU , EAST- SIDE AND WEST- SIDE. IN MY HOOD WE USED TO SAY CUZZMOE OR BLOOD, IT DIDN’T MATTER. THEN ONE DAY IN 7TH GRADE ALL OF THE SUDDEN NIGGAS COULDN’T SAY BLOOD NO MORE. AND CUZZMOE TURNED INTO PLAIN CUZZ. AND NIGGAS COULDN’T WEAR RED NO MORE.

I SHOT MY FIRST ENEMY WHEN I WAS 13 YEARS OLD AND I DIDN’T LIKE IT ALL THAT MUCH. SO I “STOPPED” FULL TIME BANGIN’ BY THE TIME I WAS 14. I STAYED AFFILIATED BECAUSE I WAS “DOWN” FOR MY HOMIES DEFENSE. I
CAUGHT ALOT OF BEEF FROM SOME BECAUSE I WOULD FIGHT BUT WOULDN’T DO DRIVE- BYS. BUT MOST
RESPECTED MY CHOICE BECAUSE THEY KNEW I PUT IN MY WORK IF I HAD TO.

BUT THE WHOLE THING IS OVER. AIN’T NO MORE BANGIN’ FOR LOVE LIKE THAT. NOW THEY BANG SO THEY WON’T BE A VICTIM. I HAD TO STAND STRONG IN MY CHOICE, BUT THESE CATS TODAY IS WEAK. TRYING TO IMPRESS THEY ON-LOOKERS. BANGING FOR ALL THE WRONG REASONS.

AND WHEN I WAS THUGGIN’, SHOOTIN’ WAS THE LAST RESORT, NOW IT’S THE FIRST. THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW WHO THEY SHOOT OR WHY, THEY JUST TRYING TO LOOK NUTTY TO THEMSELVES AND OTHERS. THAT IS SOME FAKE PUNK-ASS SHIT.

REAL BANGING IS DEAD AND GONE. IT PLAYED OUT IN ‘89. SO, ALL YOU WANNA-BE G’S NEED TO CHECK YOUR HEARTS AND FIND THE REAL YOU WHO YOUR MOMMA GAVE A GOOD NAME TO, AND PUT THE “TRADITION” AWAY.

IT IS ALL OVER MY NIGGAS, THE WAR IS A DRAW

Gang outreach worker takes message to the streets

Hillsboro Argus – OregonLive.com – Hillsboro,OR,USA
by Maxine Bernstein; The Oregonian Brent Wojahn, The Oregonian

After standing vigil at three recent gang-related funerals, longtime gang outreach worker John Canda spent 3 1/2 hours today standing at a busy corner of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Killingsworth Street, carrying a large sign around his neck to get people to think about what’s needed to help stem gang violence.

Blast Your Fears

I happened across a USA Today ‘Top 50’ Best Seller Books list a few months back. After scanning some of the current favorites, it was the cache of books that
were ‘below ‘ the Top 50 radar that caught my attention…some of them were ‘old friends’ from my junior high and high school days.

In pausing to reflect upon these past favorites, I made a few realizations.

We have popular books, music and culture that insults and enslaves, and:

We have a society anxiously pushing the church and the Bible into silence.

In further checking this list, I noted that there were more than a few ‘snack food’ books. There were woeful few books to challenge, uplift, or encourage men.

In short, many of the books I saw majored in fearfulness over courage.

I have been becoming more aware of the lack of fewer and fewer people coming along who are not featured in the mainstream press (MSM) speaking out against the
ills of our modern day. As a matter of fact, there are fewer and fewer men being raised up to do battle with the intellectual and spiritual forces of evil. We have folk who are more interested in taking less responsibility, and pushing the boundaries of victim hood as far as they can.

Then, in a local bookstore, I happened across a book entitled “Talks My Father Never Had With Me: Helping the Young Black Male make it to Adulthood.” by Rev. Harold Davis. The format of the book was simple, the message powerful, and the delivery encouraging and FEARLESS. The book had originally published in 1995.

You know I had to track down Dr. Davis and find out how men can get their voices back in a society not only hooked upon fear, but intent to create a new
generation of ‘fear junkies’ out of young men, thanks to the ‘smoke and mirrors’ philosophy of modern feminism.

Buckle up brothers. If you have ever had dream that you have wanted to ‘go for’, Dr. Davis provides hope and help for you to blast your fears into rubble, and do what you have been created to do: Being fear-less, instead of fear-addicted!

RISE OF KJAC PUBLISHING–ONE MAN AND ONE BOOK:

In our day of program after program, and book after book for this affliction and that problem, Davis’ writings are a refreshing standout. While many
authors seek to write books for thousands, (and even Christian authors have shunned KJV scripture for one of the PC modern versions), Davis sought to write a
book for a man in need of biblical teaching. “IF I can get my book to help ONE man,” said Davis in our telephone interview, “then I have done what the Lord has blessed me to do.”

Davis knew that he faced an uphill struggle to getting his books in print. Thus, he founded the Illinois-based KJAC Publishing, formed out of the first letters of the first names of his four children. He and his wife have been having a good laugh on other publishing houses ever since. “The church needs to rise up like never before,” said Davis, “and it is because it (the church) has become (so) female dominated that Black men have not been interested, nor attending church.”

“Talks My Father Never Had With Me” , is divided into seven sections with a total of 28 chapters. Each chapter has plenty of opportunity to highlight important points with a self-assessment test or quizat the end, plus the book has a section at the end ofits 236 pages for notes and observations.

“There is a lot of confusion among some young men today because of their being raised in a single parent (environment),” said Davis. “In order to get the
attention of these young men, older brothers will have to (lovingly) challenge them and be wise in talking with them about the issues of manhood.”

While this is not his first book, it has become a sought-after classic. It has spawned some sequels, one of them written by his wife, aimed at the need for women to address the issue of womanhood with their daughters and young women in their neighborhoods.

MEANWHILE, IN THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS:

Davis has expanded his teaching reach into his local community. He has written and coordinated a mentoring curriculum that has been used in the Champaign County,
Illinois school system. He has coordinated and helped to inspire, fire, and train more than 100 mentors in 21 different schools. “Everybody want ‘in’ to the
public schools, but church men are not (really) involved in the public schools in numbers they should be.” Davis noted. “While I had to re-write and expand the ‘Talks’ book to include all young men, and put the principles of scripture into a more visible manner, it is still the same timeless work attempting to address the issues of young men and the need for true manhood.”

Some of the highlights from the ‘Talks’ book center upon race relations, the twin terrors of gangs and drugs, the need for sexual responsibility by young men, the dangers of homosexuality, and one entire chapter dedicated to the issue of fear and how–if not acted upon–will cripple or kill the dreams of many a young man.

“I tend to write in a timeless manner,” Davis noted, while attempting to encourage future writers and publishers. “When I write a book, I put my heart into
it and ask the Lord to have it reach those to whom is it needed. He’s never failed to amaze me with the number of readers who have been blessed by what I’ve had to say.” By the way KJAC Publishing has its own website (www.kjac-publishing.com), and can be reached at P. O. Box 111, Champaign, Illinois, 61824. The website has six books pictured on the site.

What’s next for Davis? To encourage the older members of the brotherhood, in June 2005 his latest work hit the streets, entitled “Can I Call You
Solider?” This book is a 96 page shot in the arm, aimed at helping to build stronger, older men to help mentor those me in the church and society who may be drifting away from strong, traditional roots. It is intended to be a primer to get discussions started.

What are YOUR dream brothers? It may be time to blast the fear in your OWN life to make it happen. Why be fear-addicted when you can be blast the obstacles out of the way and put some traction on your actions and bring them to those who may be in need? Davis, among others, will be cheering you up the road of your success!

Whose Side Am I On? The gangs or the law?

You know, some of you may be reading my post and say who’s side are you on? Well to be honest with you Im on My side…Not the Law’s side, not the Gangster’s side. I know G’s, I know Cops…To me its kinda the same game. Good Guys/Bad Guys/ Cops and Robbers… We all played it growing up….

Some of us took sides when we got older, some of us went one way some the other way…..I went the wrong way. But in my eyes at that time It was the “ONLY” way…. For the ones who has to choose this life to live I accept it more, than for those “wannabe’s,” who choose this lifestyle due to it looks or sounds fun… For some its the only way of survival, but yet their are better options at times….Church’s, school activity etc…Sometimes I sit back and think of things I done, GOOD and BAD and you know. I dont regret anything I done…

Outside of hurting someone unecassary, at that time it was either him or me…..I look back and see things, I should of not done. Things I could of done but didnt do….My life was really messed up…But its made me a stronger person….Ironically, I was just asked earlier today by a young teen cause he seen my “pitchfork/6 point” on my right
arm and said are you a “G”… I answered and replied.. I used to run with the GD set..But I realized it was not something I wanted to do for the rest of my life…He was
interested in what I was talking about.. He was telling me of his Older Brother getting Killed by some of my set..I felt totally like shit… I could of been involved or know of
someone who was…Honestly I didint, or dont know who he is…But its all the same…Ihate it.. this young boy lost his big brother to either some of my Friends or someone I knew probably…He dont even know.. He just knows it was a G.

I sat down with him for quite a long while, he was talking about getting in the R.V.L. set one of the GD’s rivals here, and I was trying to talk him out of it… I cant honestly say i did but I hope I did.. He seemed touched by what I was talking to him about…afterwords I gave him a big hug and told him I was always here to talk…He wants me to teach him Martial arts to defend himself he’s always wanted to get into Karate but could never afford it,I told him first of all he needed to stay away of from the Gang scene..He was cool w/ that…And we had to work on his disclipline, and so forth… This is the things I loook for putting a positive youth in our society. Now for the Police in our neighborhood here, I cant say they would go that far….If some of them would or do thats great….Most of the Cops I know from Martial Arts and other things, They totally hate Gangbangers. Theyd much lok em up rather than sit down and try to help or talk with them…It sickens me….Most of these kids are looking for mentors, or Father figures cause most of them are raised without a male around, and the only males that are usually around are Gang members, or in Prison..One of my Students is finally going to meet his father for the First time in 10yrs due to him getting out of Prison in 8 days…. Now how is he going to be able to pick up on his Fathers past and Im scared for the young man cause he is hanging with some Latin Kings… He says he isnt joining them but they live next door and he just hangs with
them… I dont know what to do….I just worry…He comes around and spends an awfull lot of time here, watching movies and learning TKD and I try to keep him here more than at his own house…I dont want him to get caught up in a cross fire or what ever…So you ask whos side am I on? My own side!!!!

I’m a Warrior.

“Soldiers fight cause they are ordered to fight.”

“Fighters/Thugs fight to achieve thier selfish desires.”

“WARRIORS FIGHT TO DEFEND AND PROTECT THOSE AGAINST SOLDIERS AND FIGHTERS.”
