True Teachers: should we trust The Bible

There are many cleverly devised myths about who Jesus is and what he did. Jesus is the good teacher, and the Bible tells us all about him. We should trust the Bible, its eyewitness authors, and its divine inspiration.

How To Write A Good Cover Letter When Applying A Job

Lil Miss P Continues here job finding series with tips on how to write a good cover letter when applying for a job:

They say it’s not what you say but how you say it, but when it comes to job hunting and potentially nailing an interview, it’s a little bit of both. I’ve talked about the importance of marketing yourself and your skills in the past while in an interview. Today is all about writing cover letters and emails when applying for jobs. Whether you’ve been blessed with great writing skills or the ability to communicate and articulate things well or not, you can craft a useful, effective and professional cover letter or email by following just a few important steps.

1. Speak Their Language.
Whether its human resources or the head of a department looking to fill a position at a company, everyone is looking for the same thing: To find the best person who fits the job to help the company operate. A lot of job seekers make the mistake of telling employers what they’re looking for but the smartest thing to do is think about it from the employer’s position and talk about what might be important to them. For example, instead of saying that you’re looking for a position that can help you advance, be sure to include plenty about why your skills, talent, experience and personality fit the work. If it’s a position at a manufacturing plant or factory, talk about your keen attention to detail and punctuality. If it’s a secretary or management role in an office, share you’re great talent for keeping track of things, multi-tasking and enjoying interesting daily challenges. By talking about what you bring to the table versus the other way around, you will set yourself apart from other candidates — and potentially nail an interview as a result.

2. Aim To Create Three Paragraphs.
Cover emails can be slightly shorter than traditional printed cover letters, which look odd if there isn’t enough to fill out the sheet of paper. A good rule of thumb in general is to divide the letter into three short paragraphs, each with three to five sentences. The first is your intro — who you are and why you are contacting them. Reference specifically the job that you are going to be applying for and where you found it. Companies can be hiring for upwards of a hundred positions depending on their size so you will want to reference it in the first paragraph. In the second paragraph, share why you fit the job and what you bring to the company. Talk about your specific skills that match the job as referenced above, always trying to relate it back to the position. And third, wrapping things up with how you’d love to be considered for the job, are available to interview or have a phone call and can provide references if needed, etc. Always let them know that your resume follows. If you are applying via email, it’s a good idea to copy and paste your resume in the email as well as attaching it just in case someone has trouble opening it.

3. Be Sure To Be Polite, Professional And To The Point
Since your cover letter/email is a reflection of you and your ability to do great work, it is very important that you say what you say carefully and most of all, watch punctuation, spelling, language, etc. Always be sure to spell and grammar check before you send anything out. You might also want to have someone else take a look at it, either a friend, family member or career counselor, pastor, etc. It never hurts to have second eyes take a look at what you’re writing — lots of major writers do this even if they’re ultra experienced and accomplished. Take your time and really work at saying what you’d like to say with your best foot forward. The good news is, generally once you’ve written a good cover letter or email once, it can be tweaked and repurposed for pretty much every job you apply for thereafter. Just make a few changes to fit the various positions you’re applying for and you’ll be good to go.

While the job effort can be a little tedious, there are a lot of things you can get out of the way early on that you can use repeatedly — like a great resume and cover letter or email, references list, etc. After you’ve sent your resume and cover letter or email, it’s okay to follow up a short two weeks or so later to check on status. This can show your professionalism and attention to detail, as well as that you give an effort. This can help you stand out among other people applying for the job and potentially land an interview.

Dedication

In a couple of weeks on the calender it would mark the deaths of some close friends and I want to dedicate this song on this you tube link to them. I want to dedicate this to all of you on the gangstyle forums, whoever you are, where ever you are. Most of all to all the people I had to leave behind. I love and miss all of you. It might sound cheesy but my homie said it best ” I say one love, I’ll remember the laughs until we cross paths”

Abba Father, I did my best

Abba Father, I did my best by Anghellic

If I could, I’d ask for bigger and better thangs for my hood.

I’d ask God to take away

The many coffins filled

By night and by day.

I’d ask God for wisdom,

Love and a softened heart.

I thank Him before my day

Even began to start .

I’d ask for bigger and better thangs Then walkin alone in the dark.

My path, I cant always see,

Whats lies before me.

God, please come down and wipe my smudgy glasses clean.

I wanna be a mean warrior for Christ,

Fightin the battle along side my Father

Who hears me when my silent

Tears cry outloud.

I wanna stand high on the Platform of

Success. Cryin out” Abba Father,

I did my best.”

Have you ever seen an angel cry?

Have You ever seen a angel cry? by Smokey 062

Have You ever seen a angel cry? Deep in the night, you hear a solemn sigh..because her daddy lied. Lied to her mother, and lied to her, lied about how he was gonna change..it kills me to hear my angel cry, all because her daddy lied. You see she doesnt understand why you keep gettin locked up, all she knows is your not there to tuck her in at night. She cries for you, because she knows, soon, you wont be coming home. Maybe you should listen to what happens when a angel cries..i promise you, you’ll want to run and hide. Too many times, Ive sit and soothed, my precious baby, so young and yet so abused. not by me, or even by you, physically, but your abusing her mentally, because she knows that one of these nights you leave, you’ll never be coming home.Next time, listen to an angel cry..

Sacrifices

One of our most popular and respected writes Twilight is back on the scene and he drop this piece:

As I got out of the shower this morning I looked at myself in the mirror at my tattoos and scars I thought to myself and wondered about the sacrifices I have made in my life to get when I am today. One of my tattoos is the classic “praying hands” Im sure you all seen it or something like it on someone you know. I dont know if you all know the real story behind it but long ago there was a poor family and they had two sons.

The oldest brother had the talent to be a sculptor but the younger brother wanted to be a painter but the family could only send one brother to a school for sculpting or a school for painting. The decided to send older brother to sculpting school, the younger brother was heartbroken. The older brother seeing this decided to take the money and save it and send his younger brother to school. Without his family knowing, instead of going to school everyday the older brother instead got a job working the mines.

Years and years he worked his fingers to the bone saving up every bit of money he could till at last he had saved enough to send him brother to school. by that time the older brothers hands were so rough, and had been broken so many times working in the mines that he could never be a sculpture now. When people ask him why he did what he did he tells them that it was out of love for his brother than compelled him to do it. As a tribute to the love and sacrifice of his brother, the younger painted his very first painting of his brothers hands, frail, old, and broken.

Now your wondering whats the point of this story, well directly across from that tattoo is another one. its Jesus Christ on the cross. I know alot of us have questioned the will of God. I know I have. I know I shook my fist at the sky and and asked why thru tear soaked eyes. I know we all feel or felt that God forsakes us and dont love us or just dont give a damm bout what happens to us but if that were true Jesus would not have died on that cross that day. god so loved the world, THE WORLD for all its sinners, for all the ugliness and the things we do to ourselves and each other. he gave his only son to die for you, for us….no matter who you are, real, fake, lost and alone. Always remember that God loves you. He will never forsake you no matter what you’ve done, all you have to do is ask and he will forgive you. God’s love is awesome….

Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous;
love does not brag and is not arrogant,
does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own,
is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered,
does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth;
bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
Love never fails 1 Corinthians 13:4

MEMO: TOUGHEN UP, BABY!

BY MIKE RAMEY

Three quick things off of this month’s memo, right from the outset.  First, our economy is in DEPRESSION not RECESSION.  I make this statement to prepare the brotherhood for the ugly truth, rather than to believe the beautiful lie that the economy is going to get ‘better’ in one or two cycles.  Second, to be counted a man of quality, you have to learn how to toughen up in hard times!  ‘Males’ who spend more time worrying about where their next video game is coming from won’t survive in the arena of economic warfare.

Can I get an AMEN from the sisters who ‘skeet’ my column every month?

Lastly, learn how to share the joy of living by simply giving above and beyond every once in a while.  Brothers, it is truly good for the soul, and a great witness as to where (and in whom) you have your treasure stored.

WAIT: DID YOU SAY ‘TOUGHEN UP’?

Oh, yes I did!

It seems that more than a few brothers have become feminized and are hooked on their feelings–even some who claim the mantle of Christ!  Men, we need to remember what natural cruelness the Master suffered BEFORE He got to the cross, in order to reap the blessings of life eternal, DURING a time of national hardship under the Roman occupation.

Men are built to RISE in tough times.

Bookmark this one for the feminists and ‘wishy-washy’ males in the house:  “Where a nation stops listening to upright men, a roadway into Hell is paved–and opened–for immediate use.  Until righteous men are heeded in the public square, the national suffering CONTINUES!”

And the righteous brothers said: AMEN!

The late Reggie White’s 1996 book: “In The Trenches: The Autobiography” does a great job in the armor restoration department.  The ‘Minister Of Defense’ pens several lines among a few dozen that stand out for the brotherhood this month:  “Trench warfare is rugged and dirty, but wars are won in the trenches…It isn’t always fair.  It isn‘t always just.  Sometimes you get punched, you get held, you get clipped from behind–and you just have to get back on your feet, bind up your wounds, line up in the trenches, and do it all over again.”

White took risks on and off the field.  I’ll never forget his public stand against Homosexuality.  White caught a lot of ‘media flack’ for his views.  But he went to his grave with the one award that many ‘feminized’ male members of the mainstream and entertainment media WISHED they could claim:  The mantle of manhood.

Too many men have been ‘hoodwinked’ into believing that without an ‘earthly’ father in their lives, there is no venue for interacting with upright men.  Balderdash!  There are brothers who are doing the right thing everyday, and are willing to teach you what you need to know for the journey.  You don’t need a ‘Big Brothers’ program to heed the advice of an older man who is right in front of you explaining why you don’t dance in the middle of the street during rush hour!

Want more out of your life, brothers?  Listen to older, upright men!  If you don’t, you may be missing out on a tremendous blessing because of your lack of humility.  In the words of one African proverb:  “An old lion is NOT old–by accident!”

THE TIP CONNECTION:

On my voyage to manhood I learned the joys of being a good tipper, from hanging out with my own father.  My Dad made it plain:  “If you WANT good service, you have to be WILLING to pay for it!”  That advice has served me well over the years.  From the boys who come by to shovel my walk to my barber, our household is known for not being ashamed of tipping for good service.

No matter how bad times may get, the lesson is worth learning and sharing.

A teacher friend of mine told me about a how she passed the lesson on to some of her students during a field trip.  She rebuked a group of them for not leaving a tip for the waitress after they ran up a healthy tab.  Not only did she leave a good tip FOR them, she put EACH of them on the hook to pay her back by the end of the week–or she would be calling each of their parents about their ‘restaurant transgression’.

Cheap parents breed cheap teens.  This is NOT a good quality to instill in your children as they go out to make their way in the world. Some time or another they will be working in a job where tipping makes the difference between a good paycheck and a mediocre one.

AND…ONE PLACE YOU DON’T:

Tipping brings out the best in workers and employees.  Tipping also gives an indication as to the quality of man (or woman) one may be attracted to for a potential relationship.  Brothers, I’ll make it plain:  “If she’s CHEAP, head down the STREET!”

Tipping–going above and beyond what is expected–is a great witness of your faith in God.  How one can be a bad tipper and THEN want to leave a gospel tract for a waiter or waitress is beyond me.  Your witness goes as far as your ability to open your wallet.

And the restaurant workers said: AMEN!

I’ll catch some ‘hate mail’ on this next point, but I’ll ‘say on’ regardless.

There is one place that tipping is NOT allowed–in God’s church!

God gives those who are His the power to get wealth.  The Tithe (10 percent of your weekly earnings before taxes) is the Christian’s way of further public identification with the cause of Christ.  Salvation is THE way.  Baptism is next.  However, if the Lord truly has YOU, your WALLET is also SANCTIFIED!  Let the naysayers and excuse mongers stay BROKE! As men will stay away from cheap men, God WILL stay away from non-Tithers…including Pastors who talk one way, and give LESS than their best!
