Start Waking Up

From out archives this article still resonates several years after it was first published.

Our streets are filled with wannabe and non wannabe gang members committing crimes to fit in with the people the admire most. Thes people are the inner city gangsters. Now gang members seem to be  in every city in america, and they are flooding the school systems and the juvenile centers. What many new recruits of gangs do not realize is what will happen to their future.

I see foolish teenagers all over the net claiming to be from notorious Los Angeles  gang sets which most of the original members are rotting in a jail cell today.

It is out of control and I see even kids posting "war  stories" to this site such as "i am from crips" which does not phase me or any other readers, I don’t see any reason why any of us should care what neighborhood you claim, I am not here telling everyone my past gang affiliation, I am up here because my message is to get through your minds.

The Gangs in Los Angeles alone such as the Crips and Bloods has doubled and even tripled in the past 25 years since the beginning of the conflict. There has been recent releases of CD’s, Tapes, and films that focus on the conflicts of Crips and Bloods. Especially Teenage favorites such as snoop dogg. Making films with the involvement with gangs does not do anything for this country and it’s "problem" except increase it. These Rap stars make money off of their own gang involvement through
fans. The Media has made numerous gang documentaries, films, and television shows focusing on gangs. I will not name any of these but I will say that there has been too much attention to these two gangs.

I have heard rumors of a full length feature film about Crips and Bloods which disgust me greatly. These films will not only cause Controversy but will cause the sprouting of "wannabe" gangs across america double what it was.  We need to stand up against this disease of gangs and help our youth, encourage them of other ways. I suggest it is time to make a change in this country and the only way we can do it is by giving less attention to these gangs.

These rappers and entertainers need to stop glorifying crime, the media needs to stop their obsession with gangs and the film industry as well. They make us in the black and hispanic communities look bad by using us as objects of the ghetto, coming to our neighborhoods and filming ghetto movies, even for the rappers who claim to be from the "streets" they need to stop thinking about themselves and  start thinking about how their movies and what they say affects this country and it’s youth.

Today I notice many youths in a "color" war which  took place in the late 70′s and mid 80′s between Crips and Bloods, It seems to be  happening in small cities filled with wannabe gangster Crips and Bloods. In Los Angeles today the number one killer of Crips is the Crips. In 25 years The Crips have killed each other more then any Blood gang alone in Los Angeles County. There is no longer color wars  like as in Brooklyn or other New York areas, such as the wannabe Rollin 30′s of Harlem,NY and the wannabe Lenox Avenue Bloods of their own Harlem,NY. In Los Angeles today, the battle is the drug war. The drugs are how many have gotten far in the ghetto community and caused many to be "ghetto rich".
You youths need to stop the bullshit and start waking up.

Stop Now! Gangs A Way Out.

Stop Now

I have a heart heavy with sorrow for all those that have poured out thier hearts on this site. It is too much for me to bear when i see that there is a way out. I want all the people who read this that are in pain to see that the way out is found in their own hearts.

My prayer is for each of you to see that it is time to lay downthe gun, to lay down the allegiances to all false things and see that your real allegiance is to the human race, the world around you, to love. The Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. just had his day recently and I pray that all of you can see that this is the only way that things will ever get better. Nonviolence is the answer that you are looking for. Fire will never put out fire. I pray that you lay down your weapons and pick up the torch of freedom
for all. Know that you will get the kind of government you deserve if you sit back and let others decide your future. Know that you will be responsible not just for your own fate but the fates of everyone else with each decision you make. There is a way. Why die for streets you don’t own?

Why be angry for things that you can make real changes in without death and blood that means nothing in the end? Why let this go on when you have the power to make it stop? There are things in the world you have never dreamed of yet and never will if you don’t do something about it now. I pray that each of you reading this message
can hear it with empty ears, no preconceived notions. Just listen and understand. The time is now.

There are so many other causes that need your energy, so many other things you could do with your life. Each of you contains the answer, each of you can make the change.I pray that each of you will hear this and each of you will do what you are responsible for, which is to make the difference now.

To all the ladies

You are worthy!
Why? How? Because God says you are. If a man mistreats you- You are still worthy. If your Father never loved you the way he should have, remember you Heavenly Father adopted you or wants to adopt you as His child (Ephesians Chapter 1). He is also your eternal husband (Isaiah 54:5). He desires your beauty (Psalm 45: 11). You are His masterpiece created in His image( Genesis 1: 26-27). He has chosen you to be His light (Matthew 5:14-15).
There is so much more that He has created you to be! Ask God to help you to be the woman you are created to be.

Just Another Day

This from Mo Matik

Just another day trying to make it through,
Dont know who I am or what I am here to do.
So beat down and broken so tired and bruised,
Feel like my purpose is to be rejected and abused.
Just another day looking up and asking why?
No emotions anymore im left cold and dry.
Hoping for a moment to take this all away,
not interested in words there is nothing left to say.
Just another day feeling the cold in my touch,
use to have hope im all hoped out I gave to much.
Numb to the tongue, numb to things I see,
Numb is a feeling that is very normal for me.
Just another day with the clouds hangin over my head,
No motivation I just wish to say in my bed.
I use to contemplate not its a waste of time,
No thoughts anymore just a blank mind.
Just another day why oh why?
No facial expressions *drops the pen with a sigh*

Insane

Another from Mo Matik

Insane a word so commonly used,
Insane is something so real and so true.
Insane is an emotion not just a dose of reality,
Is it a normal characteristic or an abnormality.
Insane is crazy and what can crazy do,
corrupt and create unstable situations in you.
Insane is more than just a word we speak,
a deranged mentality possibly broken and weak.
distracted, demanded, beserk, even sick,
words to collaborate the meaning in this.
Insane just a word but it lies in all different places,
Insane can lie in people through expressions on faces.
the pain of society and the hate as they combine,
Insane has found a spacious spot in the back of my mind!

Absurd

This from Mo Matik

When I was a little girl I saw the same things,
The screaming the yelling it made my head ring.
The fists, the blows, the anger, the rage,
The man trapped inside of a body like a dog in a cage.
Consumed by emotion consumed by his fear,
images left in my mind, **** they are so clear.
Ideas stir as I looked into his eyes,
His mind is racing he is overwhelmed by these lies.
I know whats coming next but I cower in fear,
Afraid of what I will get as he starts to come near.
His eyes dart around it seems like it isnt him,
His eyes go half mass and the lights start to dim.
He takes what he wants and does what he does,
He makes excuses in his head he said its for love.
The sounds and the smell its all in your face,
cant escape the senses they will never erase.
A little girl caught in a world so alone,
no one to hold her she was simply unknown.
Invisible to the eye, a shadow in the dark,
A creation that had been erased she never left a mark.
A cry to the deaf she was never heard,
and no one every questions if this life was absurd!

It never stops: A gangster’s story

This from Bones…

I was born in the streets of south Texas but raised in the hoods of Cleveland,Houston,Austin,Victoria and wherever else my life led me. A half breed born to fight in the ring and die in the streets for my brothers. A father that abandoned me and a mother who loved me but was never there because she was too busy putting food on the table. Used tennis shoes and clothes from the Good Will but too young to know where they came from because if I had I wouldn’t have worn them. A step father who owned 3 beer joints in the mexican part of town. He was a gambler by day and hustler by night. I started by delivering packages from patrons from my father’s bars at the age of 11. I never knew I could make so much money but, with the money came trouble. I remember one time in particular a junkie tried to steel the package I was delivering and all I heard was a bang only to turn and see the thief hit the ground with a bullet through the head. All I remember was “**** so much blood out of a man’s mug.” I was shocked at the killing only for a moment it was the amount of blood that blew my mind. The gangsters that passed through the cut during the 60′s and 70′s were by all means good men. they treated me with respect and schooled me and coined me “Bones”because one day they said I would become one of them. I did become like Carrasco, Lencho, Danny Greene,George G. By the time I was 15 to make a long story short I was busted with a thousand tabs of LSD AND TRIED AS AN ADULT. This was in 1974 and I went to a man’s prison at the age of 16. I was brainwashed to kill because to not make it in prison was certainly death …by my own hands. I would have rather died than become a punk. Death was nothin’ but a thing so the first person to dis me was burned while he was working in the chow hall the second took a knife and as I grew my reputation grew. I was an excellent boxer and kickboxer because I grew up in the gyms and the dojos. but because of my size when I entered prison I chose the shank. It was alot quicker and more deadly. In order to make a living in prison because no one sent me money I opened stores ran protection rackets, gambled and hurt people for money. i was doing time in texas during the 80′s and the war was escalating between the only two mexican gangs in the prison system. the tension was so thick you could cut the air with a shank. Well after living through that I was sent to super seg and I stayed there until my release. By that time I had enough of all the bloodshed and realized that there are no winners in the end just death.I studied and read every book I could I educated myself and realized there was a world beyond prison and the hood. I was tired. All I had to show for my life was scars from the violent life I lead. I opened A tattoo shop and I started helping those who wanted to change their lives They ended burning that down and I moved to Austin, Tx. and started MPAC a gang intervention group. I was one of the first groups to do this type of work and It was non profit which meant I DID NOT GET PAID! I do it because I have a passion for it and I trully care for the people who are affected by it. I want to help those who want out even if means risking my own life. I wish I could work for a group that would pay me but as of yet I fund myself and it is a burden on my family. I teach mixed martial arts and boxing and I use it as a middle ground to .,meeet those bangers who are willing to change their lives.I could probably go on and on and tell you all the **** I have to go through to get just one to believe the way I believe but, I know if you are in the same game you know! All I know Is that I was able to escape death on many occasions but many of my homeboys never did…RIP. Please believe me when I say to you gangsters out there with all respect…killing is easier than stealing gum from a store, stopping is harder than starving yourself.Y’know gangstas love to eat! With all that said I say to all you that I only pray to our father in heaven that he be with each and every one of you and that he guide you in the right direction. and I leave you with my saying….”.If life is the price for a gangsta to change find the right way and find a cure for this disease then take mine for I find this to be a bargain!” lotsa love…. ‘Bones’.

Life

This from On Sum Real

Lord hear me as I lay down my fears, sometimes I feel alone, drowning in my
tearz. It’s so hard to trust you I need to know you better, feeling
like my prayers are going unanswered so I’m writing you this letter. I
need a revelation of your love, you’ve done so much for me but still I
got this mean mugg. Yesterday I was so secure and had my mind set, today
it’s like I’m starting from the bottom again already did some things I
regret. I’m sorry for not appreciating what I’ve been given, help me to
be thankful I got you, and my sins are forgiven. It’s easy to see the evil
that surrounds me daily, hard to watch the ones I love constantly failing.
I feel heavy with their burdens, as well as my own Lord help me to get
right with you so I can lead them home. As I lay my head down to sleep
my worries away, please let tomorrow be a better day.
