Q: Would you employ me if you knew I had been in a gang?
A: Maybe. It would depend on the vibe/feeling you gave me when we met, and whether or not it appears that you’ve left gang banging in the past. Employers don’t just have to consider you but also, themselves, their businesses and other employees when hiring candidates. So for many it will be whether or not you appear to be a risk in that sense. The longer you are out of the gang and working, the less this will matter as it will give more proof that there won’t be any issues, gang-related problems, etc. I would hire someone just out of a gang if I felt they were sincere and serious about leaving that life in the past, and I would hire anybody who has been out of a gang for a length of time particularly if they had a great track and work record.
