Gang outreach worker takes message to the streets

After standing vigil at three recent gang-related funerals, longtime gang outreach worker John Canda spent 3 1/2 hours today standing at a busy corner of Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. and Killingsworth Street, carrying a large sign around his neck to get people to think about what’s needed to help stem gang violence.

I think John is right on the money. Good on you John. Where are all the fathers? Without a positive male role model the kids stand no chance. It’s like Chris rock says about people saying you don’t need a father to raise a child, “you can drive a car with your feet, it don’t make it a good idea”.
